ASSURANCE OF SUPPORT
An Assurance of Support (AoS) is a legal agreement between an Australian resident (the assurer) and the Australian Government. Under an AoS, the assurer agrees to support the migrant, so they do not have to rely on payments from the Government. After the AoS period has expired, the Australian Government releases the bond money (less any deductable claims made by the migrant).
